The Renaissance was a time when art and science were not undertaken as separate streams of interest, but were bound with an understanding of the value of exploring questions through observation, analysis, evidence gathering, visual and other representation and pure imagination.
Many years later we see this deliberate bringing together of the disciplines actively pursued by both artist and scientist and none more so than with the CSIRO to help us understand, collaborate and see societal issues with new eyes.
